 That’s where the Customer Support Content team comes in. We create  clear, concise, compelling, usable content that helps customers resolve problems and get back to the fun of buying and selling on eBay.

 We’re looking for a content writer to join us in our mission. We’ll be counting on you not just to write great copy for a page here or an email there, but to help create whole experiences, where all the pieces of content complement one another and meet customer needs from start to finish. All of the content you deliver should reflect the application of a thoughtful strategy that takes into account best practices, style and voice guidelines, product knowledge, business objectives, and a thorough understanding of your audience.

Requirements

 • BA/BS in English, Journalism, Communications, or equivalent

 • 3+ years of professional experience in web writing, copywriting, or editing

 • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, including the ability to write concise, conversational copy for a broad consumer audience

 • Experience working on ecommerce or customer support content

 • Experience with Chicago, AP, and in-house style guides

 • Working knowledge of user-centered design processes and best practices

 • Ability to work within tight and often-changing deadlines

 • Strong organizational and project management skills

 • Strong attention to detail

 • Excellent interpersonal skills for working in a collaborative environment

 • Experience working with international partners as part of a global content process

 • Ability to work with a variety of content management tools and workflows

 • Willingness to become an eBay buyer and seller if you aren't one already—understanding eBay from the customer standpoint is critical

Southwest Research Institute has 4 (four) entry level Instructional Design Positions (07-00890 ASSOCIATE TECHNICAL SPECIALIST) open at our Hill AFB, Ogden, Utah branch office to begin in June 2010. (4 Openings)

Job Responsibilities: Analyze, design, develop, validate, and implement courseware using the Instructional System Development (ISD) process; conduct training requirements analyses, media analyses, and task analyses; analyze existing content to determine appropriate instructional strategies; conduct instructional design activities which may include development of learning objectives to include audience behavior, conditions, and standards, instructional media design documents, storyboards, instructional content based on the principles of ISD; interview Subject Matter Experts; perform video editing and development of knowledge objects; metadata generation; conduct technical data reviews.

Job Requirements: Masters of Science in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or Instructional and Performance Technology, or other related degree with 0-2 years experience in Instructional Systems Design principles and/or related theories. Must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Formal education or equivalent experience in development of e-learning courseware, including analyzing objectives, content, instructional strategies, and test items for suitability, creating and editing storyboards required. Must be proficient in courseware development tools including Macromedia Suite, Adobe Suite, and MS Office Suite. Familiarity in use of MS Office software. Familiarity in use of MS Project preferred; familiarity with the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) and Learning Object Metadata (LOM) are preferred; familiarity in use of Adobe Flash and Dreamweaver are preferred; familiarity in videography, video editing and the use of video editing software are preferred. Must have demonstrated strength in technical research skills, including: reviewing technical documents, interviewing Subject Matter Experts. Excellent oral and written communication skills required; ability to work in a team environment required. Hire is contingent upon contract award and period of performance.

INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNERS

JOB SUMMARY:

Design and develop a broad spectrum of online learning solutions for vocational programs typically ranging from 400 – 600 delivery hours each. Create course materials based on fundamental adult learning principals and current best practices in instructional design. Implement improvements to existing content and development new processes to increase final examination and graduation rates and knowledge necessary for graduates to secure employment. Participate in providing training to sales, marketing, student services and client services departments on new curriculums, including audience, scope objectives and functionality of the curriculum.

OBJECTIVE:

Design learning solutions and work with content writers, editors, programmers, graphic designers and web designers to bring new programs to market and to maintain existing curriculums.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

-Conducting needs assessments related to specific learning programs.

-Designing programs that will meet business unit needs with focus on intended outcomes, metrics by which to measure attainment and detailed development plan.

-Interfacing with business units and subject matter experts (SMEs) as necessary to complete development of program.

-Creating specific learning interaction and writing documents.

-Conceptualizing and produces a wide variety of instructional media elements used to enhance online course content and assist student learning.

-Remaining current with and have a thorough understanding of the latest industry technology tools and trends in online education and instructional media.

-Producing high quality work under tight deadlines.

EDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL:

-Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.

-Minimum of 1-2 years experience in an instructional designer or developer role

-Experience designing successful, broad-based comprehensive learning programs

-Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

-Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

-Working knowledge of design and media development tools such as; Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Captivate, Adobe Premiere, Javascript, and HTML

 DESIRABLE:

-Master’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology or educational technology

-Health care or vocational training experience
