INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNERS
JOB SUMMARY:
Design and develop a broad spectrum of online learning solutions for vocational programs typically ranging from 400 – 600 delivery hours each. Create course materials based on fundamental adult learning principals and current best practices in instructional design. Implement improvements to existing content and development new processes to increase final examination and graduation rates and knowledge necessary for graduates to secure employment. Participate in providing training to sales, marketing, student services and client services departments on new curriculums, including audience, scope objectives and functionality of the curriculum.
OBJECTIVE:
Design learning solutions and work with content writers, editors, programmers, graphic designers and web designers to bring new programs to market and to maintain existing curriculums.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-Conducting needs assessments related to specific learning programs.
-Designing programs that will meet business unit needs with focus on intended outcomes, metrics by which to measure attainment and detailed development plan.
-Interfacing with business units and subject matter experts (SMEs) as necessary to complete development of program.
-Creating specific learning interaction and writing documents.
-Conceptualizing and produces a wide variety of instructional media elements used to enhance online course content and assist student learning.
-Remaining current with and have a thorough understanding of the latest industry technology tools and trends in online education and instructional media.
-Producing high quality work under tight deadlines.
EDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCE:
ESSENTIAL:
-Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
-Minimum of 1-2 years experience in an instructional designer or developer role
-Experience designing successful, broad-based comprehensive learning programs
-Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
-Working knowledge of design and media development tools such as; Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Captivate, Adobe Premiere, Javascript, and HTML
DESIRABLE:
-Master’s degree in instructional design, instructional technology or educational technology
-Health care or vocational training experience
